The Guide
Questions to Ask Your Clinic
- Your first consultation is an interview — you are interviewing them as much as they are evaluating you
- How a clinic answers these questions tells you a lot about how they operate
- Don't be afraid to ask hard questions — a good clinic will welcome them
- If a clinic makes you feel like you're being difficult for asking, that is information too
- Being prepared with questions going in is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself
At Your First Consultation
- Who is my main point of contact and how do I reach them?
- What do I do when I reach cycle day 1?
- How quickly do you respond to messages and calls?
- Will I ever speak directly with a physician or is communication primarily through nurses and coordinators?
- Can I do remote monitoring locally and only come to you for retrieval and transfer?
The answers to these questions matter less than how your clinic answers them. Are they engaged? Do they treat you like a participant in your own care? Do they welcome your questions or make you feel like you're being difficult? Trust your gut. You will be working with these people through one of the hardest experiences of your life.
